Periodontist Oren Weiss, DMD, MPHDiplomate of the American Board of PeriodontologyBoard Certified in Periodontology & Dental Implant SurgeryDr. Oren Weiss is a board-certified periodontist and dental implant specialist. He obtained a combined periodontal and dental implants education with a Master Degree in Public Health at the Eastman Institute of Oral Health in University of Rochester, NY (2001). Dr. Weiss graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem – Hadassah School of Dental Medicine founded by the Alpha Omega Fraternity, and received the degree Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1993. Following graduation he completed an 18 month residency in minor Oral Surgery that allowed him to perform complex teeth extractions, including extraction of complex wisdom tooth and minor surgeries. In 1998 Dr. Weiss relocated to Rochester, NY to complete a residency program in Periodontology, followed by a two-year residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Eastman Dental Center. In 2003 he passed the National and Northeast Regional Boards and was licensed to practice dentistry in New York. During his specialty and residency training, he received the National Research Service Award and his Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Rochester. He was a full time faculty member at the University of Rochester until September 2005 when he joined Rochester Periodontal & Dental Implants. Dr. Weiss’ extensive training in periodontics and minor surgery is instrumental in complex Periodontal and oral conditions and made him known as the “Gentle periodontist with light hands”. Dr. Weiss has published in U.S. and international scientific journals. His thesis research project and scientific paper at the University of Rochester received the R. Earl Robinson Regeneration Award at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology. This paper was presented as “the paper that has contributed the most to the knowledge of periodontal regeneration”. Dr. Weiss was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester and taught at Eastman Institute of Oral Health, University of Rochester, Periodontal Residency Program (2003-2010). He serves as a Periodontal and Implant consultant for the Veteran’s Administration and is a consultant for a dental health dispute resolution organization. Dr. Weiss is a member of the American Dental Association, The American Academy of Periodontology, The American Board of Periodontology, The academy of Osseointegration, The American Academy of Facial Esthetics, 7th District Dental Society, Monroe County and Livingston County Dental Societies and the Academy of Osseointegration. He is Past President of Livingston County Dental Society. Dr. Weiss dedicates his career to saving teeth with gum disease and replacing missing or hopeless teeth with Dental Implants. He takes care of his patients at his practice and at the VA. In addition, he devotes time to community outreach in the greater Rochester area and abroad. He participates in educational programs for underprivileged kids in the inner city, supports Brighton sport teams, the Brighton Food cupboard, and the JCC of greater Rochester. Dr. Weiss Joined a medical and dental mission to Belize in central America. Dr. Weiss lives with his wife Michal and their three daughters in Brighton. In addition to actively supporting his children activities, he enjoys History, fishing, skiing, tennis, golf, and visiting family in Israel.
